Cost-effective positioning drive: Increased variety of interfaces
The compact and cost-effective SeGMo-Positioning GEL 6009 from Lenord+Bauer can now be used for an even wider range of applications. The positioning drive can be integrated into the system control either via IO-Link or via the Industrial Ethernet interfaces EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, and Profinet. To complement positioning drives with degree of protection IP67, Lenord+Bauer now offers a solution with IP 54. Even in applications where full automation was previously avoided due to the costs involved, productivity can be boosted and operator workload reduced. The batteryless absolute rotary encoder is also a feature of the new drive. Maintenance-free electrical parts guarantee a high degree of reliability and low life cycle costs. Battery replacements and unscheduled machine downtimes resulting from that are now a thing of the past. The GEL 6009 unit is equipped with a flexible 14 mm semi-hollow shaft, which can be adapted to smaller diameters using reducing sleeves. This increases the number of identical parts, improves uptimes and simplifies storage options for the machine manufacturer. By supporting the simple IO-Link cable topology, there are advantages when using the new drive in combination with the company’s digital position indicators. Both the SeGMo-Assist displays and the GEL 6009 can each be operated on an IO-Link master using a single cable. This simplifies planning of systems, as only the terminal device has to be selected according to the desired degree of automation. The existing IO-Link hardware, that is the IO-Link master and cabling, remains unchanged. Batteryless and maintenance-free position display SeGMo-Assist
The SeGMo-Assist digital position display from Lenord+Bauer, which is used for guided, semi-automated format adjustment above all in packaging processes, is the only batteryless system available on the market incorporating a full graphic display. Low life-cycle costs make this system an impressive solution. Fully manual format adjustment does not meet the standards for quality, reproducibility and traceability required by many applications. One solution is to add digital position displays. However, in many instances these displays are battery-powered. The Federal Environmental Agency estimates that 65,000 tonnes of device batteries are placed on the market in Germany alone every year. These batteries may contain toxic heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium and lead. The SeGMo-Assist digital position display is an environmentally friendly choice as its electrical parts are maintenance-free. It comprises an integrated multiturn absolute rotary encoder that does not require a backup battery. Dispensing with battery replacement translates into both ecological and economic advantages with reduced operating costs as unscheduled system downtimes due to insufficient power supply to the position displays are not needed. The OLED display with background lighting displays the actual and nominal positions, the direction of rotation as well as the operating states. Status and warning messages are easy to read at a distance of a few meters. Up to forty customer-specific pictograms can be uploaded using the easy-to-use software tool. Compact positioning system GEL 6109 for standalone use
Automatic positioning systems save time during format adjustment, increase process reliability and boost the efficiency of production lines. The compact SeGMo positioning drive GEL 6109 with batteryless multiturn absolute rotary encoder, gear and motor as well as integrated power and control electronics significantly reduces the effort required for changeover. In addition to the version for connection to the SeGMo-Box central control unit, this drive is now also available with integrated industrial Ethernet interfaces for standalone use. The drive is available in 2.5 Nm and 5 Nm versions and is ideal for replacing existing handwheels. Thanks to its graduated housing shape, it fits into almost any gap. The hollow plug-in shaft also saves installation space.
